Repositories for writing papers

We use git repositories for writing our papers. This page documents how to work with them. See also generic documentation about git repositories on our server.

Cloning (downloading) an existing repository

Windows users: Run Git Bash

To see the list of all paper repositories, run (copy&paste) the following command:

 ssh git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz papers

To clone a repository locally, note its name and run:

 git clone git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz:papers/2013/«title»

Alternatively, use Git GUI or similar graphical tools to clone the repository.

Cloning/updating all existing repositories

There is a script that clones (or updates) all existing paper respositories on the server.

  • Getting the script. In shell (Git Bash on Windows) run:
    git clone git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz:papers/scripts
  • Run the script:
    cd scripts
    ./get-papers-script.sh

Creating a repository

  1. Create the repository locally (e.g. with Git GUI program)
  2. Put some content to the local repository
  3. Push the repository to the server (in Git Bash):
    git push --set-upstream git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz:papers/2013/«title» HEAD
The name of the repository must follow the pattern papers/«year»/«title». Otherwise the push fails.
  4. All staff members have read/write access to those repositories.
  5. You can add permissions for other users (e.g. students):
    ssh git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz perms papers/2013/«title» + WRITERS «login»
  6. If you want to see a nice description of the paper in the list of repositories set it by running
ssh git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz desc papers/2013/«title» "Long description of the paper"

Rules for the repository content

  • snapshots subdirectory shall contain important compiled version(s) of the paper (e.g. the last version submitted to a conference)
  • reviews subdirectory shall contain the reviews of the paper (if there are any)
  • If you prepare a presentation in Latex, put it into the same repository as the paper
  • Once your paper is published, put the PDF to papers/published repository. See below.

List of published papers and PDF archive

We maintain a list of our publications since 2011. The content of this web is stored in a git repository located at ssh://git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz/papers/published.

Adding a paper

  1. If you have not done it already, clone the repository:
    git clone ssh://git@rtime.felk.cvut.cz/papers/published
  2. Put your PDF/PPT/etc. to the appropriate subdirectory.
    • private directory is password protected. Use it if you assigned copyright to somebody else.
    • public directory is accessible by everyone.
  3. Modify index.mdwn (in a text editor): Add paper title, authors, conference/journal name and links to the pdfs. Use the syntax described here.
  4. Commit and push the repository. The push operation will automatically update the web page.
